Current Research Overview

Investigating the Relationship Between Black Hole Mass and Galaxy Dynamics

This study focuses on the co-evolution of supermassive black holes and their host galaxies by examining the correlation between black hole mass (MBH) and stellar velocity dispersion (σ) in Seyfert Type II and LINER galaxies. These active galactic nuclei are particularly challenging to analyze due to obscuration caused by nuclear dust and the presence of a torus. Utilizing a sample of emission line galaxies from SDSS DR18, the work employs narrow-line diagnostics such as BPT and WHAN diagrams to isolate Type II AGNs and further refine their black hole mass estimates.
